Event App Download Instructions
Information about the Global Gathering can be found in the event app.
The app works as a link to a website, but you can 'install' it on your smartphone. This will provide you with access to offline documents when you arrive in Johannesburg.
You will be asked if you want to receive notifications. Please tap "Yes" to enable that for receiving announcements related to our event.
Android
Click on this link, or scan the QR code, to open it on your phone.
Tap the menu icon (3 dots in the upper right-hand corner).
Select "Add to Home screen"
Select "Install" — Unlike the "Shortcut"-option this allows you to access it even when you are not connected to the Internet.
Choose Install
After the installation you will find this app called "Global Gathering 2024" among all your other apps. How you add an app to the start screen varies between Android versions. Here is one option:
- On the Home screen, swipe from the botton. The whole list of apps appears.
- Look for "Global Gathering 2024"
- Hold down your finger on the icon and the following menu appears. Select "Add to Home"
At some point please check (or have someone check for you) that you have enabled notifications for this app. Also make sure you turn off "Remove permissions if app is unused".
iPhone or iPad
Click on this link, or scan the QR code, to open it on your phone.
Tap the Share button at the bottom of the page. It looks like a square with an arrow pointing out of the top.
In the list of options that appear, scroll down until you see Add to Home Screen. Tap this. The Add to Home Screen dialog box will appear.
Choose a name for the shortcut on your home screen. You'll see the link so you can confirm it, as well as the site's favicon that will appear as the "app" icon on your home screen. Click Add when you're done.
To open, just tap the shortcut on your home screen.
When you open the app for the first time, you will be asked to 'Enable push notifications'. Please say 'yes' and 'allow'.
You can set the language in the app under the 'more' tab.
