Wycliffe World Day of Prayer - 11th November 2021
Strength for the Journey
The theme for the Wycliffe World Day of Prayer is Strength for the Journey. The metaphor of a journey is familiar. It gives the idea of forward movement and progress. We are on a journey with the Lord as individuals, growing in our faith and our knowledge of him. We are on a journey with the Lord as organisations and a Bible translation movement, as we push on towards the day when every language community has members who follow and worship Jesus. We long for God’s transforming love to change all of our hearts and lives. We know that we will not arrive at our destination by standing still, we must press on. Sometimes the journey is difficult and we become weary, how then do we find the resolve to persevere?
The last couple of years have been amongst the most difficult in many people’s lives. The challenges have been more profound and more widespread than perhaps any other time in living memory. It is normal for us to feel tired and weak. Praise God that he never grows tired or weary (Isaiah 40:28) and that his Word is full of stories of how he strengthens us when we are weary and lack strength. He is always ready to help us (Psalm 46:1).
As we spend a day in prayer we will rejoice and be encouraged by what God has done. We will be quiet as we ask and then wait for him to renew our strength. We will lift our prayers to him for others to be strengthened as well.

Unceasing Prayer for Bible translation
An exciting new initiative will be launched on 11 November 2021. Unceasing Prayer (UP) is a collaboration of many different groups in the Bible translation movement, churches, missional agencies and prayer ministries who believe that there should be constant prayer for those who are translating the Bible around the world. UP will use Zoom to enable members of Alliance organisations, partners and friends to engage in prayer together, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The leaders of UP have offered any Alliance organisation use of their platform, on 11 November, to hold an hour of prayer as part of observing the Wycliffe World Day of Prayer. If you would like to take up this offer or find out more about how to be involved in UP please contact marj_walton@tsco.org.
