Coronavirus Prayer Update 8 May 2020

(English Only)

Psalm 9:7 and 10 (TPT)
But the Lord of eternity, our mighty God, lives and reigns forever!
He sits enthroned as King ready to render his verdicts
and judge all with righteousness…….
May everyone who knows your mercy
keep putting their trust in you,
for they can count on you for help no matter what.
O Lord, you will never, no never, neglect those
who come to you.

In times of challenge, it’s good to know that God lives and reigns forever. Let’s take time to pause and reflect on that. Even if we are feeling weary let’s keep putting our trust in God for we can count on him.

Church Stands together in prayer for COVID: Democratic Republic of Congo

The leadership and staff of l’Association Congolaise pour la traduction de la Bible et l’alphabétisation – Sukisa Boyinga (ACOTBA-SUBO) is grateful to God that there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in their Western town of Gemena, DRC. The Church is in a 24- hour prayer chain praying for protection from the pandemic. Praise God for the unity displayed by the Church and pray for continued protection.

Unable to return home: Democratic Republic of Congo

Theovision International is an organisation that records audio versions of Scripture into indigenous languages so that God’s Word can be accessible to those who cannot read. A team from Theovision Ghana travelled to Gemena, DRC in February to record six of the New Testaments translated with the assistance of Wycliffe organisation ACOTBA-SUBO. They completed recording in the first three languages in March and the remaining three in April. Unfortunately, international borders were shut down before they could leave and the team is now stuck in Gemena. Pray for God’s grace upon them as they wait for the opportunity to return home.

Promoting Bible Translation: Americas

Communication professionals from Wycliffe Global Alliance organizations in the Americas have met periodically since April 6, to exchange ideas and share initiatives using virtual technology. The group desires to keep the Bible Translation Movement visible to the public during the health crisis affecting the entire world. They understand that the Bible comforts and encourages millions of people. They also want everyone to know that many others do not have one verse of God’s Word translated into their language. Pray for creativity and innovation for those who work in communication. Pray that they will make use of the technological platforms available so that more people will commit to involvement in Bible translation.

Partnerships under pressure: Global

Praise God for good partnerships between Alliance organisations and partners who cooperate intentionally in recruiting, sending and caring for staff. These partnerships allow the flexibility for staff from one organisation to be assigned to another organisation involved in Bible translation movements around the world. In this period of heightened tension, ask God to protect and strengthen these relationships. Pray for clear communication and networking between the organisations so that the needs of staff are met, whether they serve in their country of origin or another country.
