Here is a partial list of Bible translation-related training by Wycliffe Global Alliance organisations and partners. If your organisation offers this type of training and you would like to be listed, please contact us at info@wycliffe.net. 

BTL, Kenya

Each year, BTL offers an Introductory Course in Translation Principles (ICTP), plus an advanced course on the same topic. ICTP is open to translators from all other translation and related organizations. Other courses offered include Discourse Analysis for Translation, Paratext for Bible Translation & Production, Fieldworks Language Explorer (FLEx) for Lexicography, and a 2- to 3-year Translation Consultant Training Track. Most courses are conducted in-person, with a few offered online.

Most of BTL’s training seeks to give practical skills in translation and applied linguistics. Most training is complemented with basic skills training in related software and AI tools to enhance efficiency. Some aims to develop a technical workforce in all fields – technical assistants, specialists and consultants. This cover’s BTL’s expanding field of operation in areas beyond Kenya into the East Africa region.

Dallas International University, USA

Over the past 5 years, Dallas International University has been transforming into a global learning hub for Christian higher education. Building on decades of linguistic and cultural experience, the university is broadening its focus to address a wider set of community needs through innovative programs and international partnerships.

DIU now offers certificates and degrees at undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels. New programs such as the MA in Human Migration and the graduate certificate (soon to be an MA) in Arts & Trauma Healing address changing needs among communities around the globe. Most programs are available entirely online, allowing emerging global leaders to learn from anywhere in the world.

Fueled by partnerships with other global institutions, DIU is blending distance education with off-campus instructional sites to offer accredited, localized instruction that equips students to serve their communities. 

The Associate of Applied Sciences in Agribusiness recently launched in partnership with Bobi Agribusiness Institute in Uganda, marking DIU’s first associate’s degree and first off-campus instructional site. In August 2025, the University will begin delivering its MA in Translation Advising in Portuguese in partnership with Associação Linguística Evangélica Missionária (ALEM). Also starting in August, DIU will provide translation courses in Indonesian in partnership with seminary Universitas Kristen Indonesia Tomohon (UKIT). The cooperative effort will provide a master’s degree in Bible Translation awarded by UKIT. 

Along with DIU’s traditional linguistics programs, new programs have been developed to meet the evolving models of translation on the field. These include the recent MA in Translation Advising, the graduate certificate in Translation Consulting, and the new MA in Biblical Languages and Linguistics.

Moorlands College, UK

Moorlands, located on the south coast of the UK in Dorset, offers a master’s degree in Language, Community and Development, and individual module-based courses in Scripture engagement, literacy, storying, meaning and translation and MLE. They plan to make their Planning for Transformation course available online to a much wider audience of programme and project managers. 

The Language, Community and Development program provides essential tools for community-based development, linguistics, literacy, Bible translation and Scripture engagement. Students spend six months on campus to earn a postgraduate certificate; most then do a professional internship serving a minoritised community cross-culturally, before returning to the campus for a further six months of study, followed by a year or two of dissertation writing, typically with a language development project. Alongside formal teaching and learning, the programme provides strong pastoral support and emphasis on personal development in a set of graduate attributes such as flexibility, service-orientation, integrity and professionalism.

PAAM, Panama

PAAM is launching SoliDeo, a multi-organisational, online training platform for Latin America on 28 April, 2025. SoliDeo is a community of practice for the training of workers who serve in cross-cultural ministry, It includes courses with a practical focus on areas such as personal life, family, relationships, cross-cultural service and worker safety. 

SoliDeo is designed according to the needs of pastors, leaders, future missionaries and the general public interested in learning about the mission of God. The platform will help train pastors, leaders and workers, with a goal of multiplying missionary churches and accelerate the sending of missionaries from Latin America to unreached areas of the world. 

SoliDeo will offer seminars, workshops, and courses. Seminars are free. Workshops and courses are available for purchase at an accessible cost. Content available:

Wycliffe Ethiopia

Wycliffe Ethiopia aims to be a hub for Bible Translation and Scripture Engagement in the Horn of Africa and to provide world-class training that strengthens the Church's mission across the region. Comprehensive training programs across its departments enhance Bible translation efforts and Scripture engagement in Ethiopia and beyond.  

Alongside the regular training for Bible Translators—including Basics of Translation Principles, Basic Linguistic Training and Bible Translation Software Training—Wycliffe Ethiopia offers a three-year Translation Advisors’ Training program designed to produce one advisor for each translation project. Those who demonstrate competence in their training and work are selected as Consultants in Training and eventually become Translation Consultants. This program includes courses in linguistics (phonology, morphology, syntax, discourse analysis), Bible translation, biblical languages, anthropology, interpersonal communication, hermeneutics, and a Survey of the Old and New testaments.

Scripture Engagement Training programs include Oral Bible Storytelling, Trauma Healing, Pastors' Training, Children's Trauma Healing and Children's Bible Translation. Plus, Scripture Engagement consultants are being trained through formal and on-the-job training in collaboration with partner organizations.  

Recognizing the urgent need for well-trained Bible translators and consultants in the Horn of Africa, Wycliffe Ethiopia is establishing a Bible Translation and Biblical Languages Training College in partnership with a Bible college in the USA. Launch is planned for fall 2026. This institution will serve as a training hub for the Horn of Africa, providing specialized education in Bible translation, linguistics and biblical languages. The college will accommodate students from various African countries, addressing the regional need for qualified Bible translators and consultants.  

Wycliffe Ethiopia also is partnering with the Canada Institute of Linguistics (CanIL), with four people pursuing an MA in Bible Translation online. And, they are developing a partnership with Jerusalem Seminary for biblical Hebrew training.
