Enthusiasm and Opportunity

It was organized excitement!

The rice is ready!

Half the people moved outside, under the tents, to enjoy their meal on a fresh banana leaf.

With well planned efficiency, huge scoops delivered fresh steamed rice from buckets. The rice in the buckets was distributed on the banana leaf for each person. Along came vegetable gravies ("sambhar"), each with a different flavor, spooned next to the rice. The main gravy and meat dish (commonly called "curry") was next, and the meal was ready.  Everyone ate with their hands –no eating utensils! The rice and curries are mixed by hand and scooped up into the mouth.

While the first group ate, the other half eagerly crowded into the front of the church around the list of those receiving the new digital players.

And it's all excitement to get a Scripture Player!

Their names were checked off the list and they were given the players. Their faces communicated excitement, curiosity and joy. Many of the staff of World Cassette Outreach of India showed others how to play and listen to the Ambassadors.

We were able to show many how to push the buttons and begin to hear God's Word in their own language.

The big smiles seemed to say it all!   Not only was this fun, the message of God's Word was about to be carried into homes and villages. Lives would be changed as they listened to the stories of Jesus.

The work in India has been going on for some time, but when you see the excitement and enthusiasm of people who are waiting to listen to God's Word, you realize that this is one of the most significant moments in their lives !
