Pray for Indonesia

Praise the Lord that a vernacular media team was able to complete the Abraham and Joseph Video dubbing in Kupang Malay in April. It has been turned in to the translation consultant for checking. Pray for the media team during their time in Australia (April 26 to July 17), that it will include time for rest. They also plan to record Scriptures in Kriol.

TOLAKI; Indonesia; 330,000. Praise the Lord that last year the translation team completed a final read-through of Genesis, plus the entire New Testament. They also finished checking the spelling, footnotes, and formatting. Pray that typesetting would go smoothly and quickly lead to printing at the Indonesian Bible Society’s presses in early 2013. A dedication is planned for May this year! Ask God to prepare hearts that are eager to read His lifesaving message of love and forgiveness, as found in His precious Word.

Please pray for a new partnership between SIL Indonesia and the Asian Development Bank intended to raise the level of literacy and numeracy in remote and isolated communitites in Papua Indonesia. Success will depend on good working relationships, prudent use of funds, clarity of thought and humility. Please pray that the multi-year strategic plan meant to emerge from this three-month partnership will encourage the level of education in Papua and facilitate access to the scriptures presently being translated

AMARASI ; Timor, Indonesia; 80,000. Praise God that the entire Amarasi New Testament has been drafted! Pray for energy, health, and unity as team members test, revise, and check material to prepare it for eventual publication. Thank the Lord that His Word so clearly communicates His love and care for all believers. Pray that God will mightily use the unity and love of His servants in Timor to lead others to faith in Him. www.theseedcompany.org

DHAO; Timor, Indonesia; 7,000. Pray for guidance for the translation team as they finish checking the New Testament. Ask the Lord for the local government to increasingly use Dhao language materials in schools, all the way from preschool to grade six. Pray that many adults will also be motivated to learn to read their language as well. The Dhao people are planning the dedication for some time in 2012; pray that the people will be enthusiastic and that the local government officials will want to be involved. www.theseedcompany.org

TII; Timor, Indonesia; 14,000. The Tii language project is drawing near its conclusion. Pray the Holy Spirit will continue to guide the translators as they struggle to communicate God’s Word in their language, and praise Him that His Word is challenging the translators to grow in their personal knowledge and commitment to Him. Ask God for good participation by community members and that they would be filled with excitement to share what they learn. www.theseedcompany.org

TETUN BELU; Timor, Indonesia; 300,000. “Verse by verse, line by line, You are revealing Yourself to us,” prayed Rev. Gabiel of the Tetun Belu people. Praise God for Scripture in the Tetun language so people can really understand God’s message of love and redemption. Pray that the people will soon have their Tetun New Testament in their hands. www.theseedcompany.org

HELONG; Timor, Indonesia; 20,000. Thank God for what the team has accomplished and for their hard work! The New Testament and Genesis are typeset and almost ready for publication. Now the team must prepare and revise supplementary materials. Praise God for the gift of His Spirit and for the diligence and careful work of the group who devoted time and effort to ensure the translation will communicate effectively. Kartidaya is working with 17 people groups in several areas of the country. These areas are: North Sumatra, Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Southeast Maluku, Central Java, Jakarta, and Papua. Pray for God to protect all the Kartidaya workers in their respective ministries. Praise God, Kartidaya needs a new facility because they have outgrown their current office space. The new, envisioned location will also be used as a training facility for those who are called to serve in Bible translation. Pray that God will open ways for Kartidaya to find the funds needed for this translation center.

Kartidaya has a vision to reach, by the year 2015, 75 language groups that do not have the Bible in the language they understand best. Pray for God to move churches and believers in Indonesia to catch this vision; pray that they will be more involved in the Great Commission. Pray for good cooperation among churches and Christian organizations in Indonesia to work together in reaching people for Christ.
