Cluster project: Democratic Republic of the Congo
Democratic Republic of the Congo [2011-03-25] —
The Scriptures offer hope to the Democratic Republic of the Congo now in the aftermath of civil war. The four languages represented in this cluster include the Budu, Lika, Tembo, and Fuliiru, totaling 545,000 speakers. Project translators have completed translations of Genesis and Luke, and the team is now ready to provide the Word of God to their communities. At the end of this project, three languages will have the book of Matthew. Another language will receive portions of Exodus and Judges. The translation team recently held the final checking session. Two more languages, the Lika and Fuliiru, are consultant approved.
Praise God that the Tembo, Lika and Fuliiru teams finished work at a prepublication technical check and manuscript preparation workshop. The team produced first editions of the preliminary manual describing key discourse features of each language. Pray that the Budu team will complete the manuscript preparation and printing of their trial copies for testing. Pray that Christians in each language group will be greatly encouraged in their faith through the Scriptures in their heart language.
