How did a worldwide organization called the Wycliffe Global Alliance, which now comprises well over 100 Participating Organizations, grow from its humble beginning, with one staff member in an office over a garage?

The shortest and most basic answer is: God – God’s sovereignty; God’s grace; God’s provision.

We can easily fall into the trap of thinking that history (the history of anything—whether of organizations, countries, or empires) is merely a record of man’s achievements and follies. But we know better, really. We know that, where the expansion of the knowledge of God in human hearts is concerned, regardless of language, culture, or remoteness, God is at the center of it and has been at work in those places and hearts from time immemorial.

So history, really, is the record of God’s work amidst humanity—especially where humanity is dedicated to the mission of making Him known. It is the story of God’s mission.
